Meet the Bridesmaids

August 11, 2015  •  1 Comment

I meet with brides all the time and one of the first questions I ask is how many bridesmaids there will be. Little do people know, bridesmaids have a huge role in the wedding planning process and on the day itself. I always try to tell my brides that choosing your bridesmaids is one of the most important parts of the wedding. I often hear stories about unavailable bridesmaids or some that aren't as helpful as others. The role of a bridesmaid is very important. She is responsible for planning showers, bachelorette parties, buying a dress, and the most important is being supportive and truly loving you.  One of the biggest jobs is keeping the bride calm during times of stress. I'm not usually one to brag but I can honestly say I have the best bridesmaids around. We are coming close to the 30 day mark and my bridesmaids have been nothing but amazing! They threw me the most amazing bridal shower last Friday and have went above and beyond what is expected. So because some of you may not know who these amazing gals are, I decided to dedicate a blog post to them and all their awesomeness!

Kelsey Krause: The Maid of Honor

For those of you that don't know Kelsey is my cousin. When I first called her and told her that I was getting married and wanted her to be my Maid of Honor I specifically remember her saying "Seriously? Thats really cool." Ha! If you don't know Kels she can be a lady of very few words.  She's much more a sister to me than my cousin.  I am so happy to have her standing next to me on this big day. When we were kids, we would always play hide in seek at our Grandma's house. Instead of playing the normal way I would hide in random places and when she would walk by I would jump out and scare her. The goal was to make her cry which happened a lot. But seriously, thank you Kels for being the best cousin ever and for always doing my homework. :)

Madison Smith

Where do I even begin about Maddi-Poo. Madison and I became close during my Freshman year of basketball. I was a Freshman and she was a Junior and we have been inseparable ever since. She is one of those people who is constantly smiling and just so full of joy. She also has the best hugs ever! I can call or text her at all hours of the night and she is there. Its rare to find a friend as awesome as Madison and I am so lucky to have found her at such a young age.  I can seriously tell her anything and she never judges, is forever optimistic and encouraging.  Thank you Maddi for the countless laughs and Dos dates. I can't wait to see what you have planned for this bachelorette party! :)

Kelsey Fitzwater

Kelsey and I met when I was a 7th grader and she was an 8th grader. We had a computer technology class together and everyday we would play the computer game Life. I don't think we did an ounce of work in that class but it sure was fun. Since then we have had countless hours of road rides to Krispy Kreme, sleepovers that didn't involve sleep, and long talks about our how much we love our dogs. We've had our weddings planned on Pinterest for years and she is always the first to be brutally honest with me and put me in my place when I need it.  I am so thankful to have met Kelsey. I'm so proud of the woman she has become and the success she's had in her education and now nursing career.  Even though we both live chaotic lives now, the distance doesn't break the bond we share. Thank you so much for all you've done during this wedding.

Katie Midgett

Now that I'm older I have realized how amazing it would be to have a sister. In just a mere 32 days I will will gain the most awesome Sister-in-Law a girl could have. I tell Logan all the time how lucky he is to have such an amazing sister and now I get to share that love. If you haven't figured it out by now Katie is Logan's younger sister. Katie has watched us grow as a couple and now exchange vows to become married. Even when things weren't the "best" for Logan and I in the past, she was always the one that said…"if it's meant to be, it will be."  And she was right!  It's crazy how time flies! I remember when I first met Logan, Lance, and Katie. My mom introduced me to them and I remember thinking that Midgett was a funny last name. Who knew years later I would be getting that last name. I am so lucky to be marrying into such a wonderful and loving family! I can't wait for all the adventures that are made with you!

 Geena Davis

Geena and I have been friends for as long as I can remember. I can't count the number of pool parties and sleepovers we used to have. One of my best memories of Geena was the time I had her over to swim at my house. We were probably around the age of 9 or 10 and I remember swimming around when she suddenly got stung by a sweat bee on her hand. I don't know if she is allergic to them or what but her hand swelled up so big she couldn't bend her fingers. So instead of mom freaking out she just decided to take a picture of us. It is the funniest picture ever! We are trying to give bunny ears but Geena's hand was too swollen to bend so its just her whole hand behind my head. I could tell so many stories but I will leave those for a different day. Geena, Madison and I have had an on-going group message since Madison left for college and it still continues.  Geena and I have talked each other through the very best and very worst times in our lives and I'll forever be grateful that she was there to listen.  I'm also grateful for the times she trusted me enough to call and just cry, laugh or vent when she needed an ear.  Thank you Geena for being an amazing friend and for giving the best advice when I need it most!

Taylor Nash

Last but certainly not least is the infamous Taylor. I have so many stories with this girl I don't think my blog has the room to document them all. We go wayyy back. Taylor and I weren't like most girls when we were young. Instead of being inside we always chose to be outside playing in the dirt or climbing trees. Our dad's were good buddies and always worked together on the weekends cutting wood or helping each other out.  Meanwhile our moms would be shopping.  Taylor and I would go play in the woods while they worked and shopped.   We would be gone for hours making forts, and exploring. We haven't changed much since then. We both,  I think still prefer being in the great outdoors opposed to being inside. Taylor has always been that friend that if I needed a favor at whatever time of the night she would be there. I always know I can count on her. She's also the one that is always up for an adventure before I even tell her what it is.  She and I can be exactly who we are around each other which is what makes for a great friend.  Thank you for being such an amazing bridesmaid and an even better friend. :)

So there you have it.  Aren't I lucky to have these gals in my life!?  I can't wait to see each of these beauties as they stand with me next month.  I pray that we have many more years of laughs, tears and celebrations together.  Thank you all from the bottom of my heart for being in my life and loving me.
